Preventive Care & Wellness Center
At Aliso Viejo Animal Hospital we strongly believe in preventive medicine. We would like to make sure your pet and subsequently the rest of your family are protected against any life-threatening or contagious diseases. At the same time we would like to catch any hidden problems before they become and issue. The followings are our fundamental preventive care protocols:
Vaccinations
Unfortunately, lots of pets go through major pain and suffering and often lose their life due to untreatable conditions such as Parvo Virus, Distemper, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia, etc. However, most of these life-threatening diseases are preventable with proper vaccination. At Aliso Viejo Animal Hospital, we offer core vaccines for dogs and cats.
You should be aware some diseases, like Leptospirosis, are contiguous to humans. If your pet is infected, the rest of your family is at risk of getting infected. In some occasions these diseases can go undiagnosed, which might end up causing serious problems for your family.
Our vaccine protocols are written based on the most up to date guidelines and references for your pets southern California lifestyle. We keep track of all the vaccines your pet needs and even send you reminders. We know you will have lots of things to remember, worrying about your pets vaccine schedule shouldn’t be one of them.
We also offer titer tests for the pets that are not able to receive the vaccine for any reason, including pets on immunosuppressants, ill pets or elderlies to make sure their immunity is at an optimal level for these serious diseases.
Parasite Control
Parasites like worms and insects are not just ugly and annoying, they can also cause serious problems for your pet and human family members.
For example, according to the CDC, Center of Disease Control, more than 90% of puppies are infected with a type of intestinal parasite called roundworm. They are usually passed through their mothers’ milk at the time of nursing. You will not be able to see the eggs in your dog’s feces and most the time this disease causes minimal to no symptoms for your dog and may go undiagnosed. However, it’s good to know if your pet has roundworm, the eggs can cause serious issues for the rest of your family especially your young kids. Proper detection and treatment are key.
Other examples can be a tick borne disease like Lyme disease or infectious skin lesions from a Sarcoptes scabiei mite.
At Aliso Viejo Animal hospital we follow the most effective protocols and provide medications that are comprehensive and affordable to make sure your pet and family are free of any internal and external parasites.
Semi-Annual Physical Exams
We all know our pets are very good at hiding their pain and they are unable to talk to us about their problems. Most pets suffer from their chronic issues because they can’t tell us how they are feeling, so owners are unaware of the problem.
On the other hand, pets age much faster than us, every year they age is equal to 7 years of human life, so their internal organs age fast as well.
Following our ultimate goal of diagnosing the problems before they become an issue, we offer semi-Annual comprehensive pet physical exams with lab work and offer preventive treatments and protocols to make sure your pet’s health status and quality of life stays at the highest possible level.
